Teacher Responsibilities

  1. Abide by Chinese school rules and regulations
  2. Comply with class time. The teacher must arrive at the classroom 10-15 minutes before class start time, and must not leave early, or be absent without a good reason.
  3. For any reason you cannot teach the class, you must give two weeks’ advance notice so OCS can arrange for a substitute teacher for your class. OCS has a group of registered sub teachers on file. If you find a qualified substitute teacher yourself, you still need to inform OCS for approval, teacher registration and payroll purposes. Otherwise, the sub teacher will be considered as school volunteers.
  4. Continue to improve the quality of teaching and enhance students’ interest in learning.
  5. Pre-class preparation; make sure all the materials related to the lessons are ready before class.
  6. The teacher should give students the right amount of homework according to class goal.
  7. The teacher must email homework assignments to parents so that the parents can supervise their children to complete the homework.
  8. The teacher should schedule tests or exams base on the teaching plan to assess each student’s learning progress.
  9. Provide homework instructions in both Chinese and English if needed.
  10. If you have to leave the teaching job before the school year ends for any special reasons, you must notify the school admin team six weeks in advance, so that OCS has enough time to find teacher replacement.
  11. Report any issues or problems promptly to the OCS admin team for communication and resolution.
  12. Use teaching allowance wisely. For any special needs, you must apply and obtain permission from the school admin team in advance.
  13. Participate in the annual teacher evaluation at the end of school year. This evaluation will determine the annual academic awards (TBD).
  14. Complete all tax procedures according to Ohio law.
  15. Please do not collect money from students or parents without approval from the school.
